Quotes From the Stories of College Students

By Joanie Cheung on October 18, 2016

I’ve spent three weeks in college and I’ve already compiled a list of stories I can possibly tell my family or friends. But instead of sharing my experiences (like I did in my previous article), I asked some out of my many wonderful hall-mates if they wanted to disclose their stories.

So without further ado, here are six quotes from the stories of college students.

1. “Nice people can be bad roommates.”

One of my hall-mates shares a dorm with two other people who he claims are pretty quiet, chill, and nice. The only problem is that they don’t clean up after themselves. They throw away their used tissues on the ground and leave their belongings on his side of the room. As a result of their lack of hygiene, he only goes in his room to sleep.

 2. “We have open forum.”

This person dorms with three other guys who have meaningful conversations with each other at the end of the day. He states how these deep talks help everyone obtain new perspectives from people who experienced different situations.

3. “I slept at 6:30 a.m. and woke up at 7:30 a.m.”

“No regrets” are the two words that follow the end of her story. Chatting with people in the common room of our hall discourages her to go to bed. Based on her story, I find that the main reason college students sleep so late is that they want to get to know those around them. After all, people are more open when it’s late, right?

 4. “You can sleep anywhere.”

Having shared classes with some of my hall-mates, I realized that all of them sleep during the lectures. Personally, I haven’t slept in any of my high school classes, but as soon as I sit down in my lectures, my eyes close. That’s a problem.

 5. “I forgot my keys six times and phone three times.”

I’m pretty sure no one has lost his or her possessions as much as this hall-mate of mine. Make sure you have everything you need especially before leaving the area you are currently in. A heart attack and increase in blood pressure, following the discovery of lost items, are not pleasant at all.

6. “Someone cut their hair in the sink and bathtub and left it there.”

One thing is for sure. Wear. Your. Shoes. Wear them to the bathroom. Wear them in the halls. Wear them everywhere. Don’t assume that everyone will be as clean and hygienic as you and don’t make it hard for the janitorial staff.

I can guarantee that the number of stories you have in college will only increase. These stories are what will shape a major part of your life story, unable to be rewritten but able to be replayed.
